Joel C. Ross

President and Chief Executive Officer

Joel oversees corporate and strategic issues, global sales and quality for the company, and interacts with the company’s advisors and stock holders. He began his career with the company in 1979 upon graduation from Graceland University in Iowa, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. Joel has held key positions in sales, accounting, and purchasing, and was appointed President in 1990. He was instrumental in launching the company’s signature busway product, creating and turning STARLINE into the industry’s leading brand name. A 1999 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Institute For Entrepreneurial Excellence Program for executives, Joel continues to work with the company’s senior leadership team to formulate and monitor progress on strategic issues and direction for the company.

Steven L. Ross

Chief Operating Officer

Steve oversees the product research and development team and is intricately involved in new product design and management. A registered professional Electrical Engineer, Steve and his team developed the award-winning STARLINE Plug-In Raceway system. A graduate of Iowa State University, Steve joined Universal Electric in 1988 after serving five years in Westinghouse Electric’s Transportation division and two years in various engineering positions with Electronic Controls Inc. As UEC’s lead technical product expert, Steve holds numerous U.S. and foreign patents.

Thomas J. Ferrie

Vice President of Finance

Tom joined UEC in 1997 as Controller, and has gained increasing responsibilities throughout the years. Prior to his work at Universal Electric, Tom was an auditor for Allegheny County. He has shepherded the company's financials through significant growth and has been instrumental in many new initiatives for the organization. He manages the accounting and financial staff, and oversees the IT/IS Groups. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Robert Morris University, and is a licensed CPA in Pennsylvania.

David S. Grafton

Vice President of Engineering & Quality

Dave started with UEC as the Design Engineering Manager in 2011. His previous experience includes positions with IBM, Synopsys, and Eaton Corporation. Since accepting a position with UEC, Dave has made significant improvements with quality and process standardization for the organization. Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Pittsburgh, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Robert Morris University.

Lance P. Sabados

Vice President of Sales

Lance joined the organization in 2007 as the Director of Sales for UEC. Prior to his role with UEC, Lance was a Vice President of Sales for Danaher Corporation, working in their Josyln Hi-Voltage Division. Under his direction, Universal Electric has experienced significant sales growth in both the domestic and international markets. He has a vast knowledge of sales and marketing in the electrical industry, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Grove City College, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Case-Western Reserve University.

Mark A. Swift

Director of Marketing

Mark started his career at UEC in 2010 as Business Development Manager, and has received several promotions during his tenure at the organization. In addition to his expertise in power distribution, Mark has a vast knowledge of marketing, product development, and sales in the cable and telecommunications industries, from several key roles with Armstrong Utilities and Consolidated Communications. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Computer Science from Grove City College, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Geneva College.

Stacey R. Wolfe

Director of Human Resources

Stacey began her career here at Universal Electric Corporation in 2013 as the Human Resources Manager, and was promoted to Director in October 2016. As a key member of the leadership team, embodying the core values of UEC, she has been able to utilize her strong HR background to support the growth initiatives and future vision for the organization. Prior to her time with UEC, Stacey has held various levels of HR positions with Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toshiba and McKesson. She holds a Bachelors in Business Management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from Waynesburg University.

Douglas F. Childers

Director of Operations

Doug began his career with Universal Electric Corporation in 1998 as Production Manager. During his tenure at the company, he has also held the key position of Operational Excellence Manager, and most recently was promoted to Director in April 2017. In this capacity, he oversees all aspects of the production and materials management portion of the business. With over twenty-five years of experience in production, quality, and lean manufacturing, Doug has been able to leverage this breadth of experiences to support the company's growth. Prior to joining UEC, Doug has held roles in both operations and human resources, and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Purdue University.
